Boise State University invites interested applicants for the position of Webmaster to become a part of our team to continue our quest toward becoming a Metropolitan Research University of Distinction. The position is responsible for managing and maintaining the BSR website and associated services.  

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Gather website material from a variety of sources as well as editing, proofing and posting said material content. Write and/or procure from available sources website content related to news, research, events, recruitment, and Department calendar and activities postings. Act as departmental liaison to other departments as it relates to web issues.
  • Research information/best practices that enhance the value of the website and newsletter.  Work to keep the site and newsletter up to date with branding standards and available technologies. Effectively manage, warehouse, and catalog all website content assets. Evaluate new content for industry accuracy, brand/voice consistency, spelling, and grammatical correctness.
  • Develop and report access statistics from the website for evaluation to managers, and aid in interpreting results and impact on individual departments. Maintain responsibility for overall navigational design of the website and provide technical support to departmental content providers in the design of divisional web pages.

 

At a minimum you should have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Computer Information Systems, English, Journalism, Marketing, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three years experience in same type of work or five years experience in similar work, with the following knowledge/experience:
  • Advanced knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and of digital imaging and illustration with Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Illustrator with formal training an asset.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, PHP, and dynamic HTML; experience with Macromedia Flash.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.).
  • Experience with ADA compliance and regulations pertaining to websites.
  • Attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem-solving.
  • Ability to work in a team and to communicate clearly to provide training to staff and faculty.

 

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Formal training in desktop publishing applications and photography.
  • Superior knowledge of current web design trends and techniques.
  • A strong online portfolio displaying user-centered design, content, and proofreading experience.
  • Experience with web database solutions.

 

Salary and benefits:
  $34,507 per year DOE, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, retirement plan, reduced tuition benefits, vacation leave, sick leave, paid holidays, and other benefits.
