SINE DIE
BOISE, ID (AP 04.02.2008) The House adjourned its 2008 legislative session after 87 days following a vote to give Idaho businesses personal property tax relief. Among the final issues to be resolved included the property tax plan and $15 million in funding for substance-abuse treatment. The Senate was due to adjourn shortly. A hotly disputed plan to trim Idaho retirees from the state medical benefits plan failed in a committee after former state workers complained more information was needed. In addition, a plan to let publicly owned hospitals take on debt without a vote failed in the Senate. Legislative leaders had hoped to conclude the session a week and a half ago, especially because it's an election year and many lawmakers hope to return to their districts for campaigning.
